don't worry guys, we're just a little past due to showing off this kids fun space. before he was born i had all these ideas in my head of how i wanted his room, + most of the ideas i followed through with, but the ones i did not follow through with were kind of on purpose. it was hard for me to make out exactly what i wanted for his room before he was here. i knew which colors, + which crib i wanted; + i knew that i wanted just a white chair with an end table beside it, one desk/dresser in his room + nothing more.
it is more like i couldn't make decisions on the little things, like crib sheets, wall decor, stuffed toys, + pops of color, without seeing him + his little personality. i thought i wanted to paint thick gray + white stripes on the wall where his crib is, but i changed my mind {less is more} in my opinion, + white walls keep things open, crisp + clean.
skyler built a book shelf with his name wood burned into it, for his little library. guys, sky can make whatever kind of pallet shelving you want. go visit his etsy shop-->>here + email him for a custom order. i made briggs's mobil, which he stares at for days, with tired eyes, before falling asleep. it is little windmills made from craft paper, wire, + fish string from michael's. besides the colors, it's pretty underwhelming, which is exactly what i was going for. it works nicely, briggs's body heat rises, which causes the windmills to turn on their own. they are bright colors with white polka dots on some, which holds his attention for quite some time. i will never make one of these again (haha)! it was very time consuming, kind of like this blogging nonsense ;).
the cute felt triangle flag you see hanging on his crib, my sister made. it was originally either for above his crib or on his bookshelf; + i know i will have to move it once he gets super grabby, which makes me sad, because i love it where it is. i will probably end up hanging it from his bookshelf. i like the bare white wall, because his mobil already adds enough of a color pop, anything else would make the area too busy, + i am not a 'busy walls kind of person'. unless it is a photo gallery, that i do like, + that is the right kind of busy on a wall for sure. the basket beside his crib is from target, it's the perfect blue + gray color for all the other array of colors going on in the room.
i got his rug for Christmas from skyler + used it for my tree skirt. i don't think i got it as an early present because it was still legitimately under the tree (haha). i have wanted a sheep skin rug {fake one of course} forever; + i have always wanted to put it in my babes nursery. it's easily one of my favorite pieces in his room.
the side table you see by my chair, my man made as well. it's where the humidifier usually sits {took it off for the picture ;)} which is the perfect distance to briggs's crib so it can reach him nicely. it's also nice for other babe needs you need close by while feeding. it has a lower shelf that is also handy that could hold toys, diapers, books or other things. this wing chair my sister had in her home + didn't need, so she generously gave it to me for his nursery. it's a dark purple color, so i got a white chair cover from overstalk, it is a wee bit big for the chair {don't look too closely}. but i still like it, annd i'll be honest, i didn't want to return it + have to find another, so i tolerate it. the pom is a tannish-gray color, i got it from tillys. yep, it's that online store that's especially for teens + dorm rooms (haha). the wall prints i got from an etsy shop, which i forgot the name of, but if i were to do it again i would have just had my friend make those prints. {that 'i am a child of God' print under his book shelf, that's not hung up yet (whoops) is from my friend} she makes some flippen cute prints, her shop is called little piece of blue sky, go check it out.
we only took a picture of his dresser from these two drawers + up, because the handles on the three drawers below are super girly (haha). we were going to take them out, repaint the whole thing, screw bigger holes where the old handles were, + put some thick barge rope in for handles, but i actually really like the handles that are on it already..for a girls room anyways, {they are very antique-y looking}, so we just left them (whoops). i guarantee baby briggs won't notice the gold metal + little pink roses on the handles on the drawers below anyway. it was my aunt angela's old dresser that my grandparents let us have, {+ if any of you know her, surely you'll know why we just love this dresser as is}. i originally envisioned a longer white dresser instead of a tall short dresser, to put a changing pad on + then a basket full of diapers + babe needs with other cute things to the side of it, but i am completely satisfied with this one. the sling shot hanging, was skyler's grandpas when he was a wee lad, it was well used you can tell {i heard he was a pretty good shot too} + i thought it added some more 'boy' to the room. i got that 'you are my sunshine' hanging piece from one of my 'a little bundle' monthly packages, as well as that little holder next to the basket which holds his binks + other small nick-nacks.
i have received a bunch of other awesome things from my 'a little bundle' monthly packages for briggs. like: babe clothes, babe beanies, wall prints, an all natural alexandra + rose teething ring, other babe toys, + much more. they also put something special in each package for momma as well. go here to subscribe, + check out their 'a little shop' for other cute finds. that's where we got baby briggs's mr fox friend, + they have a bunch of other really cute stuffed friends, it was really hard to choose. his little 'goodnight' cloud pillow is from juniper wilde. she makes some of the cutest pillows i've seen, + they are the perfect size for in a nursery or crib; seriously go check her shop out.
while i was pregnant, + having completed as much as we could have in his room before he came, i used to go in there, sit, + just think about him, with a smile on my face, {for like half an hour}. or before work i'd go eat my breakfast in there {i know i'm a bit of a freak}. it is my favorite room in the house. and now that he is here, his little scent..{you know that scent that all babes carry with them, + people always sniff your babe + say "oh my, he smells so good,"} yes, that scent; it takes over his entire nursery, + makes the space ten times more my favorite. we are pretty stinkin happy with the way everything in the room turned out. with a crib under two hundred dollars {+ it being exactly the color + style that i wanted}, a free white dresser, a free wing chair {+ it's super comfy}, a chair cover under sixty dollars, a homemade side table, mobil, + book shelf, no extra paint, + just a few choice stand out pieces, made for very tasteful space. it's perfect for a 'not so rich' little family, {like ourselves} who are very blessed to even be able to have a separate room for the babe; + sky + i are more than satisfied with the end result.
